Switch On Your Brain by Dr. Caroline Leaf is one of the most interesting and impactful books I've read. Of all the books I read last year, this one is probably my favorite simply because it's full of scientific knowledge about the brain and how it works, which is something I really know nothing about, and how God designed us.
There are a few areas in life that I feel should be mandatory to learn about in school that really aren't. It's not taught in school, or if they are, I totally missed that and that could be the case. Somehow I got out of taking PE my entire life, but that's another story for another day.
Okay, so one of those areas that I feel like should be mandatory that just isn't at all, is personal finances. Can I get an amen? And now after reading this book, I feel like another area that should be mandatory learning about when you're in high school and college is just about your brain and how it works.
I didn't know how much I needed this book until I read it. Man, it's so powerful. The first part of the book, Dr. Caroline Leaf outlines how to switch on your brain, explaining how your brain works, how your thoughts are actual things, they're proteins, they are formed inside your brain, and then how you can catch your thoughts and redirect them, how to enter into directed rest, which is so good for your mind.
And then the second part of the book is her outline of the 21 Day Brain Detox Plan. I'm going to briefly go over the Detox Plan with you, but I want you to know that there are so many good lessons to learn in Part One of her book that you should definitely visit the show notes and grab yourself a copy of this book because it's really that valuable.
