Adriano Farano – European entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley with a passion for mobile publishing and a background in the digital media business. In 2000, at age 20, he realized Europe was lacking a public sphere to discuss common issues that were already coming up as it was (and still is) evolving towards a real federation of states. He ended up ideating CafeBabel.com, the first pan-European multilingual online magazine and blog platform that he has been running until 2009.

In 2010-11, he was awarded a Knight Fellowship at Stanford University where he researched on how to augment the news experience on mobile and especially tablet devices. Out of that experience, he first ideated Quadmented, a time-machine-like tour of Stanford’s Main Quad using some augmented reality techniques and then launched Tactilize (formerly OWNI, Inc.), a social network for the iPad.

In 2012, he started Watchup, a company that is bringing the power of video journalism to your iPad. He did so while at StartX, the Stanford student startup accelerator, where he was an entrepreneur in residence for a year and where he now serves as a mentor. He lives and works in Silicon Valley where he enjoys life with his French wife and two babel-kids. Find him on Twitter @farano.
