Rick Zarate is an environmental scientist and project manager at Freese and Nichols, Inc. Rick works with private and municipal clients across Texas to deliver environmental studies and permitting for complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Rick came across the principles behind state of mind in 2016 and it has profoundly impacted his personal and professional life – he has been sharing the principles with family, friends, work colleagues, and anyone who will listen, ever since. Rick lives with his wife, Lane, and two children, Micah and Luella, in Fort Worth, Texas.
In today’s conversation, Rick Zarate talks about a time when he was experiencing significant success in his professional life, and along with that, a significant amount of stress and worry. Curious about his own stress and in search of answers, he came across a book about the inside out nature of life. Once Rick began to connect the dots between his feelings of worry and his own state of mind, things began to look very different. Decision-making in business no longer felt as “high stakes” and stress-inducing, knowing he could step back and rely on clarity of mind to step in. Rick shares how he has seen the impact of this understanding in both his profession and as a parent.
