On today’s episode, I am speaking with Jackie Hellyer. Jackie is a fourth grade teacher, a mom, a wife, an avid runner and was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer in the summer of 2021. She talks about her treatment which has included chemotherapy, anti-HER2 therapy, surgery and radiation. We speak about how cancer involves a loss of self and how it is necessary and important to both properly mourn that and process all of those emotions. We speak about fitness during treatment and beyond, parenting – how to both talk to your kids and involve them during your treatment and much more. This conversation is a very honest and open discussion of what cancer treatment looks like – both physically and mentally – all the ups and downs and what happens in between.
