On today’s episode, I am speaking with Mardi Kaplan. Mardi was initially diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer in December 2017. She underwent a bilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and endocrine therapy with ovarian suppression. In December 2021, she was on her way back from a trip to Sri Lanka and the Maldives when she felt a mass on her neck and in March 2022, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer to the liver and lymph nodes. Mardi talks about what it is like living with metastatic breast cancer– we talk about all the challenging topics including sexual health, her relationship, fertility, mental health and much more. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and if you can give, I urge you to donate to Metavivor, a patient led, grassroots organization where 100% of money donated goes to support metastatic breast cancer research.
