In the news section we discuss Rodolfo Vieira submission loss in the UFC due to arm in Guillotine choke, and we also discuss the recently-announced matchup between Gordon Ryan and Roberto Jimenez on who is number one taking place February 26th.  We talk about Robertos changes in his game and how Gordon has a submission pathway to victory. 

In the recap section of the show we breakdown Kennedy Maciel’s victory over Diego “Pato” Oliveira to retain the Lightweight Title in the Gi.  We talk about his armbar attempt and how Diego was able to Alleviate the pressure of the submission using proper positioning and escape.  we also discuss some recent technique from Keenan Cornelius demonstrating the same thing. 

In the recap of Rafael Formiga Barbosa vs Johnny Souza we talk about Slams in BJJ and how Fromiga kept his Middleweight Masters Title with a well timed slam and pass.  We also talk about alternate ways that slams can be scored, and why they are important in professional matches.  In the recap of Pedro Marinho vs Matheus Luna we talked about Pedros takedown game and his activity at Black Belt. 

In the submission of the night match between Isaac Doederlein and Matheus Galvao we discuss the back take and transition off of Matheus kneebar attempt that saw Issac finish a great collar choke from the back.

In the match between Max Gimenis and Tex Johnson we discuss the scoring of the match and the places that both grapplers excelled in this match.  We talk about how the scoring of this match played out and how positional and takedown dominance outweighed submission offence.  We also discuss the various titles held by both men and what we would like to see them fight for in the future. 

In the preview of F2W 164 we About a number of rematches taking place on the card including Dante Leon vs Manuel Ribamar which is a rematch of NY Pro matches in both 2017, and 2018.  We talk about how Dantes game has changed and how Ribimar may have to deal with Dante in the F2W rule set.  We talk about Pedro Marinho vs Oliver Taza a rematch of the JitzKing tournament that saw Pedro advance.  We contrast how submission offence and points contrast in both meetings.  In Gianni Grippo vs Gabriel Sousa we discuss how the IBJJF rules contrast with the F2W rules and if this will favor either grappler.  In Vagner Rocha vs Yuri Simoes the only non-rematch we previewed we talk about the levels of activity of both as of late and the possibility of Yuri coming back into BJJ.  We talk about Vagner moving up in weight and Yuri’s performances at ADCC 2015 and 2017.
