The ultimate devastation of any form of PTSD is that the person loses the ability to be themselves. Whether your PTSD is from the trauma of war, a failed marriage, sexual abuse or rejection, the result is the same: loss of your true identity!

The heart is the real you. It is the seat of all deep feelings and beliefs and it is the combining of spirit and soul that comprises your true identity. As such, it is the seat of self-awareness; therefore, it is impossible to see ourselves as God sees us when our heart is broken, i.e. when we are suffering from spiritual PTSD.
