If you are a Studio Owner or Show Producer who has had to postpone their 2021 productions and deliver them this year, you may understand the anguish of delaying a show. I have experienced this recently where I delivered 6 months worth of productions in a 30 day period, during what would normally be our team holiday season… and it was EXHAUSTING! There were moments where I was unsure if it was worth doing at all and also, moments where I was proud and elated from the experience of coming through for my clients and patrons. All in all, there were definite pros AND cons, which I happily share with you in this episode. One thing is for sure, it made me question my mantra of “the show must go on!” as I began to consider the reasons WHY it must. MUST the show go on? At what point is it ok to pull the plug? Or change your delivery promise? I have some answers to these questions. I openly share the financial losses I experienced during show week due to refunds and reduced sales, as well as share the personal and community gains. I hope this show helps you in the decision making process when it comes to your next production outcome. Or, perhaps provokes thought as to how we should navigate production experiences, and at what cost to us?
