Part 2 of Eoin's chat with Emily Melendez (@_typeonefun).
Emily is from Long Island, USA, and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 14.
Emily tells us about what she remembers from when she was first diagnosed with T1D, and outlines how she was diagnosed only shortly after her younger sister, Katie, suffered a brain aneurysm (thankfully Katie is alive and well today!).
Emily speaks about her experiences going from using an insulin pump, to insulin pens, and then insulin pens to a closed loop pump system.
She also tells us in detail about a recent, but severe, hypo (low blood sugar) incident she had, and recounts how she had a legitimate “out of body experience”.
As always, be sure to rate, comment, subscribe and share. Your interaction and feedback really helps the podcast. The more Diabetics that we reach, the bigger impact we can make!
