Validation is tough because when your partner brings you something painful or messy, your body wants to react. Your brain starts telling old stories about not being good enough or being unlovable or being too much. But validation is not about agreeing with them or taking the blame. It is simply saying: I see you. I see this person I love having an emotional experience.
When you learn this skill, everything shifts. Fights de-escalate. Arguments turn into discussions. Repair becomes possible. And your relationship starts to feel safer for both of you.
