We welcome Keith Patrick on this week's podcast to preview a little baseball and announce a special project he's been working on for all of you. Tech baseball has 3 preseason All-Americans, plus one of the best incoming recruiting classes in the country. We can't wait for the first pitch on February 15.

The football team had a couple of midterm enrollees make it to campus from this most recent signing period, Trevor Roberson and Simon Gonzalez. Getting Gonzalez on campus early will surely pay dividends with how much David Yost utilizes the tightend position. We also preview the upcoming post on StakingThePlains about what the Keith Patterson defense will look like, some terminology, and where some of the current players might project in this new scheme.

Chris Beard is such a perfect cultural fit in West Texas and at Texas Tech that it almost doesn't make sense for him to entertain offers anywhere else. He is also destroying it on social media lately with his Fireside Chats. We talk about the upcoming game versus the Iowa State Cyclones and the road trip to Baylor.

We answer all of your questions, as always.

Plucky underdog Clemson Tigers outmatch the Alabama Crimson Tide to win the 2018 national championship. In somewhat stunning fashion, the Crimson Tide are handed their largest margin of defeat under Nick Saban.

Former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury was named the Arizona Cardinals (or is it Kardinals?) head coach today after spending nearly a month as the offensive coordinator for the USC Trojans.

Josh Jung named was named to a preseason All-America list as the baseball season is closing in. We're sure this isn't the last for Jung and the Red Raider baseball team.

The men's basketball team takes down the Kansas State Wildcats and Oklahoma Sooners at home and move to 14-1, 3-0 on the season. We are recording during the second half of the game and get some instant reaction in the middle of the episode as the Red Raiders close out the victory.

Soo many Kliff Kingsbury questions.

We're nearing the end of the first full year of the 23 Personnel Podcast and it's been a ride! We recently picked up some new equipment to help the podcast continue to grow, provide a high quality podcast, and to be able to more easily bring on guests in the future.

Texas Tech men's basketball team takes down the West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown for the first time since WVU joined the conference. We have some instant reaction.

The women's basketball team is off to a hot start as they've already surpassed the win total for 2017 before starting conference play. They also recently picked up a 5* transfer from UCONN in Lexi Gordon, who should be a big time addition when she becomes eligible after sitting out.

The men's basketball team returns home to face Kansas State and will host OU on the night we record again.

The football season is nearing an end with one final college game left, the national championship between Alabama and Clemson. We discuss our thoughts on the latest bowl games, the playoffs, and why we're ready for the spring sports season to pick up.

Finally, "Kiss Sexbury" is trying to be made a thing as Kliff Kingsbury is reportedly interviewing for a couple of NFL jobs, including the head coaching position for the New York Jets. And no, none of that is a joke.

McDonald is back, mostly, after missing last week with a cough. Spencer still stands by what he said about LaBarre's comments two weeks ago.

We wrap up our Christmas vacations and discuss some odd present giving from Spencer's mom.

Texas Tech couldn't get past Duke last week in Madison Square Garden, even though Jarrett Culver led all scorers with 25 points and Zion Williamson fouled out. One more nonconference game before Big 12 play starts on Wednesday, 1/2 on the road.

Texas Tech signed 11 commits to during the early signing period and are in good shape to land the previously committed recruits. 2017 Freshman All-American Nevada WR McLane Mannix announced his transfer to Texas Tech.

See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

LaBarre joins the episode this week to defend himself. For the record, we don't always insult or make fun of LaBarre - he just has awful takes.

He also joins to help us break down the early signing period for the 2019 recruiting class and what Wells and Co. have been able to put/keep together in their first few weeks on the job. We also discover the possibility of Tech actually running a play from a 23 personnel package is significantly greater than with the previous coaching staff. The coaching staff contract and salary details were recently released.

The men's basketball team is preparing to take on the no. 2 Duke Blue Devils in Madison Square Garden.

We answer your questions and go into some detail about the things we learned this week.
