Today, our plus guest is Yuin woman and First nations assistant curator at the Australian Museum: Dr Mariko Smith, who was kind enough to take us on a tour of the Unsettled exhibition, open May 22 until October 10. We last caught up with Mariko at the 2020 Yabun Festival, where she discussed the upcoming exhibit, the need to correct the overtly Euro-centric record of history on this land, and the damage wrought by colonisers.

In this episode, we discussed the Unsettled exhibition and the work being done to correct false historical narratives, as well as the role of an exhibition like Unsettled in truth-telling and providing a space for Indigenous voices in the exploration of the history of this land.

G'day listeners, it's been a while between drinks. We recorded this in May 2020, just as the true severity of COVID was hitting everyone for the first time. It's taken a while to get this edited, largely due to some personal issues on my end - in addition to the general fatigue that comes with the global shutdown. I managed to outsource the editing of two other episodes we recorded at that time, but now that I've managed to pull myself out of the single worst mental health episode I've ever experienced, we should be back up and running soon.

With this finally done, we're hoping to get a few more episodes recorded in the coming months.

On a personal note, I would like to offer my deepest apologies to Jack Latimore, who was kind enough to give us his time, I'm sorry this took such a long time to publish.

G'day voters and welcome to the first anniversary of 3 White Guys + Guest, a political podcast for a cynical nation.

Twelve months ago and against all odds, Scott Morrison was returned as Prime Minister and Australia looked ready to neck itself. In that time three white guys decided to do something radical, start a podcast.

Over the following year, they witnessed the end of accountability, the collapse of journalistic integrity, and the failure of public leadership on such an epic scale that it sparked the fire of revolution in their hearts. The podcast went from vaguely humourous vanity project to serious conversation about where the nation (and the world) is headed, with a focus on finding a solution to a system that has been designed to benefit those at the top while crushing those who do all the work.

National and global governance had been given a corporate makeover and for all intents and purposes, the car was driving itself, Parliament was no more than theatre and the public sector was being automated.

Looking back we can see corruption, cronyism, profiteering, and a callous disregard for the lives of those living on this land, and that's just in 12 months. It is looking more and more like the Australian experiment has failed, and Donald Horne's assessment of Australia as a lucky country run mainly by second-rate people who share in its luck has never seemed more appropriate.

This is the ninth episode of 2020, and our plus guest today is socialist, trade unionist, and former Labor Senator Doug Cameron.
