Be You Podcast

301 - Say It Differently, See It Differently

Listen Later

This week on Be YOU, join Jill as she revisits an exercise from two episodes ago in which listeners were asked to do a "brain dump" of their fears and worries and then rewrite/reframe them in positive ways. She encourages listeners to continue doing this exercise, even affirming that many people around the world are participating!

The key part of the exercise now? As Jill explains, be aware of when you are speaking your fears and worries out loud, and immediately "flip the script" by saying the positive version out loud instead. Jill gives some examples, like if you find yourself complaining about someone being irresponsible, you could instead say out loud that they are learning and growing. She highlights that it's really important to say the positive version out loud and not just think it.

Jill makes the argument that the words that we use have a lot of power and energy and that we often speak our fears and worries into existence without even realizing. By consciously flipping the script out loud, she reiterates, we can change the way we see the world and the people in it.

Jill also takes a moment to plug a book written by a previous guest of the podcast, Lisa Morton – a book titled Aligned at Home: How Feng Shui and Holistic Design Can Restore Your Energy and Well-Being. Grab a copy here!

Also, don't forget - Jill will be hosting an upcoming retreat - the More of Me retreat - offering a deep dive into self-discovery. Head to jillherman.com for more details!
