  • 2027 Paint Colors of the Year Through a Feng Shui Lens

Click here to send Lisa a message.

Every year the paint brands announce their colors of the year, and every year I can't wait to look at them through a Feng Shui lens. Not just whether they're pretty, but how they feel, what they do to our bodies and our energy, and where they actually belong in a home.

This year something jumped out at me right away. Almost every major brand is pointing us in the same direction...toward nature. After a year of soft, safe whites (Pantone's 2026 pick was literally a white!), we're ready to bring some life back into our homes. Greens, earthy blues, and warm clay tones are everywhere, and I think that tells us something about what we're all collectively craving.

In this episode, I walk through the 2027 colors of the year one by one. I share which Feng Shui element each color carries, how it might make you feel, and which rooms I'd use it in, from your kitchen and home office to your bedroom and dining room.

    In this episode, I cover:

    • Why so many 2027 paint colors are inspired by nature, and what that means for your home's energy
    • The greens and the wood element (growth, renewal, new beginnings): Sherwin-Williams Celery SW 6421, Benjamin Moore Webster Green HC-130, Behr Grounded, and Dulux Soulful Sage
    • Why the yellow undertone in Celery makes it feel nourishing, and why I love it in a kitchen, breakfast nook, or bathroom
    • Behr Grounded, a mossy olive that might be my favorite of the greens, and why it's perfect for color drenching
    • The blues and the water element (flow, rest, reflection): Valspar Cottage Door and Glidden Artifact, and where to use them when you want to decompress
    • The bold earth tones: Dutch Boy Deep Rooted for gathering spaces (and why I'd keep it out of your bedroom), plus Graham & Brown Rose Earth, the dusty pink being called the new neutral
    • How to find the color that's right for you, sample it, and live with it before you commit
    • How to bring in a color's energy with pillows, rugs, and decor instead of paint

Please remember, never ever follow a trend unless you truly love it. Think of these as inspiration. And you don't need to repaint every room in your house after listening (unless you want to...I won't stop you!).

Love color as much as I do?

  • How to Feng Shui Your Schedule: 5 Ways to Clear What’s Stuck in Your Week

Click here to send Lisa a message.

Your calendar is in a way...a space you live in every single day. And just like your home, it can feel cluttered, blocked, or open. In this episode I’m sharing how I recently did a feng shui assessment of sorts on my own life and schedule, what I noticed when I looked closely, and five simple ways you can do the same.

I walk you through how to notice where your week flows easily, how to find your stuck corner using what I call the dread test, and how to tell the difference between something that’s hard and something that’s just heavy.

We’ll also talk about the “shoulds” we pick up from other people, perfectionism dressed up as high standards (I know this one well), and why it’s okay to clear something out and let that space stay open.

    IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN

    • How to walk through your week the same way I walk through a client’s home
    • The dread test, and why hard can be good but heavy is draining
    • How to spot the rules you’re following that were never really yours
    • Why perfectionism feels so heavy energetically
    • How yin and yang apply to your calendar, especially in this Year of the Fire Horse
    • The one question to ask about any task that feels stuck

    YOUR SIMPLE STEP THIS WEEK

Choose the one weekly task you dread most and ask yourself: does this need to go, or does it just need to be simpler? That’s it. No big overhaul, no remodel.

  • Where Did the Fun Go? Bringing Whimsy Back Home

Click here to send Lisa a message.

When was the last time something in your home made you smile? Not because it was perfectly styled or because the rug matched beautifully... but because it was just plain fun.

After years of walking into homes, I've noticed that so many of them are lovely. They're clean, coordinated, and tastefully done. But something is missing. That spark. And I'll be honest, I've been looking around my own home lately and noticing that some of the fun has quietly disappeared here, too.

In this episode I share the disco ball that stopped me in my tracks at a past client's home, the five sneaky ways whimsy slips out of our spaces, and why it matters more than you might think in Feng Shui. Then I walk you through five simple ways to bring a little playfulness back into your home, no renovation required.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN

    • The five ways the fun quietly slips away, from the "safe neutral" era to the fear of getting it wrong
    • Why a home without whimsy can lean too yin, and how the fire element and the Year of the Fire Horse invite more joy and self-expression
    • How to find your children and creativity area using the bagua and the three gate method
    • Five easy ways to bring whimsy back, including low-risk color, personal art, and things that move and sparkle

  • Inside the Aligned Sanctuary Retreat: What Happens When Women Slow Down at Home

Click here to send Lisa a message.

This week I'm joined by my right-hand woman (well... technically my left-hand woman), Maggie Kitch, for a behind-the-scenes look at our very first Aligned Sanctuary women's retreat. Eight women, three days, and a home that was prepared with so much intention to hold them.

The retreat sold out in just three weeks, and the group ranged from moms in their 30s with young kids to a beautiful woman who had just celebrated her 80th birthday. We talk about how this whole idea bubbled up for me after nine busy months of book promotion, why I chose to host it in my own home, and the simple way I prepared my space before anyone walked through the door.

You'll also hear our favorite moments, a couple of hiccups we sailed through (including a last-minute presenter swap under a full moon), and one woman's powerful realization about the color of her bedroom and her sleep.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why I scheduled slow, unhurried planning time every week leading up to the retreat, and why I'll do it for every event from now on
    • How I prepared my home to welcome guests: fresh air, a thorough space clearing, and setting an intention for every room
    • Easy ways to prepare your own space before hosting a holiday gathering, game night, or girls' weekend
    • What "flow time" is and why it became one of the most-loved parts of the weekend
    • How the color of a bedroom can quietly affect your sleep
    • What we learned, what we'd tweak, and what's coming next for spring 2027

Special thanks to our retreat experts:

    • Jen Heller of Homes That Heal
    • Lindsay Fruchey, who led our intuitive watercolor experience and the creator of the Magic of Earth card deck.

  • How to Refresh Your Home Without Buying Anything New: 7 Easy Feng Shui Tips (Listener Favorite)

Click here to send Lisa a message.

This week I'm re-sharing a listener favorite, and honestly, it's one I needed to hear again myself. You don't have to spend a single dollar to make your home feel new. Sometimes the most powerful shifts come from rearranging, editing, and simply seeing your space with fresh eyes.

I start with the "fresh eyes" exercise I use with so many of my clients (it's also in my book, Aligned at Home), then show you how to shop your own home before you ever think about shopping in a store. From there I walk through seven simple Feng Shui refresh ideas, like rearranging furniture to change the flow of energy, swapping decor between rooms, clearing one surface completely, and creating a calm reset corner.

And stay until the end for my favorite bonus: the practice of moving 27 things when you're feeling stuck or stagnant. It's simple, it's free, and you might be surprised at how renewed your home feels.

  • Decluttering for ADHD Brains: Body Doubling, Doom Baskets & Making Peace with Your Home (with guest Stacey Hudson)

Click here to send Lisa a message.

I have been counting down the days for this one. Today I'm joined by my podcasting friend Stacey Hutson, host of The Next Phase Podcast — a show for ADHD moms entering perimenopause who are looking for less information and more peace. Stacey is a longtime podcaster, former advertising copywriter, wellness chef, and food blogger, and she lives in Golden, Colorado with her husband, two daughters, a dog, and a cat.

We get into a lot in this one. Stacey walks me through the remodel her family went through after their kitchen and newly finished basement both flooded — and the insurance fight that came with it. From there, we talk about what actually got her decluttering after years of researching how to do it: a line from decluttering coach Dana K. White that reframed the whole thing — decluttering not to impress anyone, but so her home would stop holding her back.

Stacey also breaks down why decluttering can look so different for an ADHD brain. It's rarely a lack of information — it's the doing. She shares her go-to tool, body doubling (working alongside someone else, even virtually, to actually get something done), plus her own honest, funny systems: doom baskets, timing herself, even filming herself decluttering her closet to make the process feel less overwhelming.

We also talk about the emotional side of belongings — the boxes and bags we can't seem to let go of, and why it's okay to keep some things, too.

If you've ever felt frozen staring at a junk drawer or a closet that's been quietly stressing you out, this episode is for you.

Stacey is gifting listeners a video of her decluttering one of her own doom baskets in 20 minutes flat — body doubling in action. Find the link in this week's newsletter, or head to Stacy's Instagram @stacehutson.

  • 5 Feng Shui Bedroom Rules I'm Willing to Break (And the One I'm Not)

Click here to send Lisa a message.

I've been sitting on this episode for a while now, it’s one of those topics that keeps circling around in my head until I finally have to sit down and get it out. Today it's the master bedroom, and I'm walking you through five feng shui rules: which ones I'm genuinely willing to bend for a client's real life, and the one I hold firm on no matter what.

Before we get into the rules themselves, I share a little bit about my own history with perfectionism… from struggling to get ready for school as a teenager, all the way to a very expensive hand-tufted carpet lesson during my private aircraft design days. It's the reason I don't believe in "good feng shui" versus "bad feng shui." I believe in a sliding scale and in releasing the pressure to get it exactly right.

Here's what we cover in the master bedroom:

    • The bed in the command position — bendable, sort of. New construction is making this harder than ever, and I'll tell you what to do if your bed can't avoid lining up with the door.
    • Headboard against a solid wall — bendable. What to do when your only option is putting the bed in front of a window (including a real fix from a very oddly shaped bedroom of mine in Willoughby, Ohio).
    • Matching nightstands and lamps — bendable, with one important caveat about proportion. Plus a client story about mismatched nightstands mirroring a mismatched relationship.
    • Mirrors facing the bed — holding firm. This is one of the most consistent disruptors of restful sleep I see, and I'll give you a few real options if you can't remove it.
    • No exercise equipment, desks, or screens in the primary bedroom — mostly holding firm, with a practical workaround for smaller homes, condos, and RVs.

None of this is about getting your bedroom "right." It's about noticing your specific space and working with how you actually live in it.

If this resonates, I'd love to have you join me in the Aligned at Home Collective — my monthly membership group, meeting the first Wednesday of every month from 7–8pm ET. Reach out for a free first month. Prefer to go deeper one-on-one? You can also book a free 15-minute discovery call — link in the show notes.

  • It's Never About the Remodel: What Your Renovation Requests Are Really Telling You

Click here to send Lisa a message.

Over the past 20+ years of walking into homes as a designer and feng shui master teacher, I've noticed something that happens almost every single time. Someone calls me about their kitchen, their primary bedroom, or their basement, and within the first 20 minutes of really talking it through, that room starts to disappear. What comes forward instead is something so much bigger.

In this episode, I'm sharing three real client stories that taught me this lesson over and over again. One couple asked for new cabinets and countertops, and what we uncovered was a marriage that had gone quiet, and a dining table that brought them back together. Another woman wanted her primary bedroom redone, and what we found was a woman who had spent years giving everyone else in her home the nicer things while she quietly went without. And a couple who wanted their basement finished ended up finally having the money conversation they'd been avoiding for years.

None of this is about being dishonest with yourself. A remodel is often the most acceptable way to ask for something deeper — connection, rest, self-worth, or the permission to finally talk about what's really going on. I'll walk you through each story, and I'll leave you with a journal prompt of your own: what's a space in your home you keep saying you want to fix, and when you picture it the way you want it to feel, not look, what's actually missing?

If this episode stirs something up for you, I'd love to talk it through. You can grab one of my free 15-minute discovery calls through the link below.

  • Celebrating Year 3, Kicking off Year 4

Click here to send Lisa a message.

Can you believe it? We're closing out year three of Feng Shui Living and stepping into year four, and I'm celebrating by bringing back one of my favorite people for this milestone episode: trained astrologer, dear friend, and my right hand behind the scenes, Maggie Kitch.

In this episode, we're pulling back the curtain a little. I'm sharing where the podcast has grown to (over 71,000 downloads, if you can believe it, with nearly double the growth this year alone), the surprising city that leads my listenership (hint: it's not the one you'd guess), and which episodes and client stories really resonated with you this year.

We also revisit some of my most-loved client stories, including a little girl's neon bedroom that was accidentally recreating hospital energy, and a home wrapped top to bottom in plastic sheeting that needed far more than a deep clean.

Maggie pulled up my astrology chart from the very first day I hit record back in August 2023 and compared it to right now, and what she found about the year ahead genuinely gave me chills, especially with the timing lining up right before my Aligned Sanctuary Retreat this September.

Plus, I'm sharing a peek at what's ahead in year four, including new guest episodes and my upcoming Feng Shui Basics course this fall.

Thank you for three amazing years. Here's to closing this chapter well and diving into year four together.
