Retirement is a time for taking it easy.  Relaxing.  Putting aside all that work you’ve done for so many years and just doing… nothing.  Right?

Not if you’re Michael Duty.  

Michael, my guest on this episode of the Thriving Christian Artist podcast, retired from his decades of work as an architect in his own firm, and all of a sudden he had to figure out how to fill his days.  So he took it to the Lord, praying for guidance on what God wanted him to do.  The answer?  “Write your story!”  

That encouragement from God was just what he needed.  Michael wrote a memoir, then began to make writing a priority on a daily basis.  Realizing the value of the time he now had, he also put renewed energy into painting, and he even took up the violin.  He’s busier in retirement than he was when he was working! 

Michael and I talked about how you can use the time you are given to serve the Lord in more ways than most people can dream of, if you let Him move your creativity.  We also talked about how fiction (such as his new novel, Canaan Found) can be used to reach people with God’s message effectively without being preachy.  It was a great conversation, and I hope you’ll listen to this episode.
