48 - Why Won't They Apologize? The Hidden Depth Under the I'm Sorry

Listen Later

Why is it so difficult for some of us to say, "I'm sorry?" Why do we sometimes feel like we need to justify it? I've shown up this way. It is so easy to fall into that pattern of saying sorry but not truly apologizing in a way that shows empathy or acknowledges the other person's feelings in any way. Why is it so hard for some of us to show empathy and acknowledge their pain even when we don't understand or agree?

In this episode, we dig into what a good apology looks like and what a bad apology looks like. There are three key parts to an apology that will not only strengthen your relationship with the other person, but it will allow you to grow. I give you actionable steps to take and questions to ask yourself as you apologize to someone, receive an apology from someone, and talk to someone in your life who just can't say the words, "I'm sorry."
