Have you ever heard of the saying that ‘a calorie IS a calorie’ and believed it? Perhaps you’ve tried very calorie-restricted diets in the past for this very reason. You know, the ones that have you count every single calorie eaten during the day and limit you to tiny portion sizes of certain foods. Sure, it works for a season, by reducing your total daily caloric intake, but constant macros and calorie counting becomes exhausting to keep up long-term.
So, is it ALL about the calories, and should we just assume that all calories are equal? Not quite. There’s definitely more to this story and I want to tell you about it.
