On the eve of the 76ers' final exhibition game, Elton Brand decided the timing was right for him to retire for good. The 17-year veteran earned co-Rookie of the Year Honors and two All-Star bids over the course of his career. With the Sixers seeking veteran leadership, he rejoined the team last January, and returned for the pre-season.

With the pre-season winding down, the 76ers conducted a free open practice for several thousand fans at Temple University's Liacouras Center on Wednesday, October 19th. The event was held as part of #BlueWeek presented by Independence Blue Cross.

To mark the occassion, Sixers.com's Charlie Widdoes and Brian Seltzer recorded a live episode of The BroadCast during the workout session. Having grown up under an iconic New England head coach himself, Brown has been around basketball his entire life, playing for and working alongside some of the sport's most respected names.

On Tuesday, October 18th, Brown will share insights and wisdom he's gained over the course of his three-decade career as part of the 2nd Annual Sixers Coaches Clinic. The event - free for coaches of all age levels - will be held at the team's training complex in Camden, New Jersey from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

This off-season, the Grizzlies made some noteworthy moves. They replaced head coach David Joerger with long-time Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale. Then in free agency, the club took an aggressive approach, investing considerably in veteran swingman Chandler Parsons, and re-signing Mike Conley to a max contract.

Over the weekend, the 76ers travelled to Cleveland for their third exhibition match-up. As was the case with the team's previous two games, Saturday's 108-105 setback to the Cavaliers was close. In particular, Joel Embiid's offensive contributions stood out, as he finished with a pre-season high 12 points.
