On today’s episode, I am speaking with Dr. John Marshall and Liza Marshall who are the authors of “Off Our Chests: A Candid Tour Through The World of Cancer”. John is a medical oncologist and professor at Georgetown University and an international expert in gastrointestinal cancers. Liza is a retired lawyer and founding member of Hope Connections for Cancer Support. She was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer in 2006. Together, they co-authored this book detailing their individual and shared experiences– Liza’s experience as a patient and John’s experience as a doctor-turned-caregiver. Both joined me on the podcast to share their story in an open, honest and at times, humorous, way. We speak about relationships, parenting, clinical trials, decision making, becoming a survivor, emotional fatigue as a physician and so much more. Ultimately, this is a story about how to care and support the ones we love.
