In this episode we dissect the ever-evolving nutritional guidelines published by the American Diabetes Association each year, which are usually replicated around the globe.
We take a hard look at the ADA's Medical Care Guidelines, evaluating the evolution of digital programs as an option for diabetes support and advocating for balanced, nutrient-rich eating plans. We investigate the ADA's stance on carbohydrates and its well-known undeniable impact on blood sugar levels, and based on the evidence of decades, we push for more precise guidelines to be provided so that people with type 2 diabetes could experience much better health.
We challenge recent guideline changes, such as the push for low-fat dairy and reduced meat consumption, asking the hard questions about the evidence that supports these shifts. We also look a little closer at the recommendations for sweeteners.
Tune in as we investigate ways to move towards clarity and specificity in diabetes nutrition - the evidence is there, but the action is still lagging.
