About Our Guest:

Colleen Nicklas Askew is the owner of The Old Building with her husband Carter. She is a retired teacher with 4 children of her own, and no previous industry experience. When she came upon the old, rundown building in her downtown Louisiana area, she decided to transform it into a venue. Her grand opening was September 25, 2020. She is passionate about her space and constantly improving her property and the guest experience.

The Old Building--is a restored 75-year-old building, originated as the R & H Grocery Store, owned by Roy and Herman Plessala. The Old Building features 20-foot high pitched, original wooden ceilings restored, a staircase built through the original dumb waiter, a warming area, indoor/outdoor bar, mezzanine seating, second-story terrace all to play a role as an elegant host for momentous occasions. Enjoy a view of the Atchafalaya River from the second-story terrace on a beautiful day, or under the stars and string lights, along with a walk a few feet away from the river. They are a specialized, versatile space that can be customized for all event needs!

The Old Building was recently renovated with expert attention to detail to ensure everything you need for a magical wedding day experience.
