When Aaron Scheerhorn was stabbed to death outside a Houston nightclub in 2010, investigators believed they quickly found their suspect.

Six eyewitnesses identified Lydell Grant as the killer. A jury agreed. Grant was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.

There was just one problem.

Years later, DNA testing revealed that the evidence did not point to Grant at all. Instead, it led investigators to another man entirely—raising difficult questions about eyewitness testimony, memory, and how a wrongful conviction can happen even when multiple witnesses are absolutely certain.
