Richardson Independent School District is working to achieve a culture of equity by leading educators to create classrooms, schools, and an organizational system where the opportunity to succeed is made available to every student. Seeking to embrace every student and staff member, this edWeb podcast chronicles Richardson ISD’s journey to turn words into action. Joining Richardson ISD Superintendent, Dr. Jeannie Stone, in addressing systemic disparities and inequities are Carrie Breedlove, J.J. Pearce High School Principal, Katrina Collins, Skyview Elementary School Principal, and Toni Jackson, Dartmouth Elementary School Teacher.

Essential questions include:

  • How does a school district communicate a vision for equity?
  • What strategies can classroom teachers, principals and district leaders use to implement and establish a culture of high expectations leading to more equitable outcomes?
  • How can all district staff ensure the raising of expectations and meeting the needs of all students?
  • How can district leaders build teacher and leader skills, knowledge, and capacity to lean into equity work?
  • How can relationships with key stakeholders, such as students, parents, the community, and elected officials be leveraged to support equity work?

Listeners learn about strategies to address systemic disparities and inequities to benefit all students. This edWeb podcast is of particular value to school superintendents, K-12 school and district leaders, and aspiring leaders.
