SA Police says the wreckage of a light plane which crashed into the ocean off the Fleurieu Peninsula coast has been recovered.

The pilot, a 57-year-old Morphett Vale man, and two passengers, an 18-year-old Freeling man and a 19-year-old Pasadena man, all died when the single-engine plane crashed in the Long Bay area - near Goolwah South - yesterday afternoon.

Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes says police will prepare a report for the coroner.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a suicide attack on a mosque in Pakistan that's claimed the lives of at least 31 people.

The attack came as people gathered for Friday prayers at a Shia mosque in Islamabad.

The Islamic State group posted an image it says is of the attacker, showing him holding a gun with his face covered and eyes blurred.

More than 170 people were also wounded, after the gunman opened fire before detonating a suicide vest when he was confronted by security guards.

Residents along W-A's Pilbara coast are bracing for tropical cyclone Mitchell amid predictions it could intensify to a category three system today before crossing the coast tomorrow.

Mitchell is expected to bring rough conditions including wind gusts up to a 150 kilometres an hour, storm surges and heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding.

A warning zone has been established for 800 kilometres along in the Pilbara Coast between Tigray and Mingaloo.

Emergency services received reports of a Cessna crashing into the ocean at Long Bay near Goolwa South just before four-30 PM.

All three men on board, including the pilot - a 57-year-old man -  as well as an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were subsequently found dead.

Cyclone Mitchell is intensifying off the north of W-A with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting destructive wind gusts for the Pilbara coast later today.

The cyclone is north of Port Hedland, and is expected to intensify into a category two system this afternoon as it moves southwest along the coast.

Mitchell is forecast to make landfall over the Western Pilbara late on Sunday.

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning residents to brace for heavy rain, destructive winds and potential flooding as the cyclone passes through the region.

A major air and sea search is re-commencing this morning... for a fisherman whose empty boat was found adrift off the Gold Coast.

Concerns were raised on Thursday night after the 44-year-old man failed to return to the Runaway Bay Marina.

Authorities located his half cabin cruiser around 2 o clock yesterday morning, about 50 kilometres south east of the Gold Coast Seaway.
