It is a disservice to call someone an addict. That, in fact, labels the person and also puts a stigma on the person. What do you think of when someone is referred to as an addict? Do you see the dirty, decrepit person down on the street corner shooting up?
Well, the reality is that addicts today are from well to do families. They are the high school students, college students and co-workers that you think are perfectly happy and drug or alcohol free.
