Today on MedNet21, we’re going to discuss Addiction, Stigma, & Person-First Language. This presentation reviews the neurobiology of addiction and explores the impact of addiction stigma on patients with substance use disorders. Together, we will describe the basic neurobiology of addiction and apply this understanding of neurobiology to check biases toward individuals with addiction. Additionally, we will discuss ways to reduce addiction stigma through clinically accurate person-first language.
