This week on the podcast Barbara and Barb discuss the ins and outs of supplementation. When is it necessary, and when might it not be necessary? We also discuss how to appropriately supplement your baby, if it is in fact needed. Sometimes we can be giving our babies extra food when we don’t need to and sometimes we may need to give our babies extra food if needed. Knowing the facts about supplementation is important so you can understand the process and what the possible pros and cons might be.

We know that babies need about 2.5 oz per lbs of their weight after day ten or so. We expect babies to lose weight for the first three days or so. But then, we expect them to gain ON AVERAGE about 1 oz per 24 hours for the next 14 weeks or so.
