This week on All Things Breastfeeding, host Barbara Robertson who is the owner of the Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor, shares her second breastfeeding story. This story was delayed in being recorded due some unexpected changes in Barbara’s family. She wanted to get the story just right! The great breastfeeding relationship you have when the babies are little, that closeness and connection, can last a lifetime. Breastfeeding is so much more than food!
Even though Barbara was a La Leche Leader and an experienced mother, she still had some challenges. She needed to reach out and get help 0o work out the little kinks in her nursing relationship. Recovering from the emotional trauma of her first birth was key to having the kind of birth and breastfeeding experience that she wanted. Having the right team in place, midwives and doulas, helped tremendously as well. La Leche League again, turned out to be a life saver! We can all use a little help here and there! With Barbara’s first baby, breastfeeding was quite a challenge. The second baby was certainly easier but still had some bumps in the road.
The more we can share our stories, the more connected and less alone we can feel on our own journeys! The mothers who have shared their stories have found this to be a great experience. Benefit yourself and others! If you would like to share your breastfeeding story with us, please email [email protected].
