On 21 August, 2024, the Lai Ching-te dispensation in Taiwan organised its first edition of the Ketagalan Forum, which was overall the 8th edition of the Indo-Pacific security dialogue. Interesting remarks were presented by participants from 11 countries on supporting Taiwan and its democratic values, as well as shared concerns of regional partners vis-a-vis China.
In this episode of All Things Policy by Takshashila Institution, Amit Kumar quizzes Anushka Saxena on the developments at the Forum and the takeaways from the visions presented by Taiwan, US, and Japan representatives for cross-strait security. They also touch upon India-Taiwan relations and how the Wang Yi- Sullivan meeting panned out right after the Ketagalan engagements.

The Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharati Act) Act requires private broadcasters in India to share live feeds of sports deemed to be of ‘national importance’ with the public broadcaster, allowing it to retransmit these free-to-air. In this episode, Carl is joined by Srishti Joshi, Senior Associate at the Koan Advisory Group where they discuss the intricacies of India’s sports broadcasting landscape. Should sports content be free-to-air? Should mandatory sharing exist in today’s sports broadcasting ecosystem with the ubiquity of various mediums? Is there a balance to be maintained between private broadcasters’ rights and public interest?
They explore these questions and possible solutions in this episode. The host of this podcast is indebted to Nandan Kamath for breaking these questions down in his masterful work ‘Boundary Lab: Inside the Global Experiment called Sport’.

In the past few months, the issue of surplus supply or 'overcapacity' in the Chinese production ecosystem has led to a ringing of alarm bells in the economies of the geopolitical West. Using both a national security and economic logic to approach the issue, Western countries have slapped import tariffs of upto a 100% on Chinese exports to prevent dumping. The supply glut is also causing low profitability for Chinese firms, amidst an already slowing economy.
In this special video episode of Takshashila's 'All Things Policy' podcast, Pranay Kotasthane and Anushka Saxena weigh in on the debate surrounding Chinese overcapacity. They also discuss policy approaches India can adopt to address potential fallouts of such overcapacity. Tune in now!

According to estimates, 2024 marks the point when the absolute size of the working age (20-64) population of OECD, or Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries) begins to shrink. These broad depopulation trends will invariably impact migration patterns both internationally and domestically in India. Join Kripa Koshy (Programme Manager, Takshashila) in conversation with Prof. Chinmay Tumbe, Associate Professor in the Economics Area at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, as they unpack some of these migration considerations in the Indian context.
