Ambient Soundbath Podcast

I’m finally getting around to mining all the creative inspiration I gained from a recent trip around Lake Superior, both through western Ontario on the north side and on the southern side through Michigan’s UP (upper peninsula) by way of Duluth. What an amazing trip! For a trip that’s literally a day’s car ride away…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #72 – Agawa Bay

With this episode of the Ambient Soundbath Podcast, we’re featuring David Naegele’s Journeys Out of Body, another vintage new age cassette from the early 1980s. What can I tell you about this release? Not a heck of a lot, but I can tell you, people seem to love it and really want to get their…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #71 – Journeys Out of Body

Ambient Soundbath #70 is another original work in the vein of Parallax Drone; a piece inspired by Philip Glass’ Early Works where I’ve experimented with some compositional devices called parallel and contrary motion that he worked with on that recording… You can hear it in the criss-crossing of the sounds as they move from speaker…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #70 – Helical Drone

Upper Astral is an interesting artist that I found when scouring YouTube for vintage new age cassettes releases. I found a variety of Upper Astral recordings, but when I looked at how I could put them together for a single Ambient Soundbath program I couldn’t get many of them to work well together. I played…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #69 – Upper Astral

This episode of the Ambient Soundbath Podcast features the evocative sound worlds of electronic musician and sound synthesist, Max Corbacho. Max’s work, more than any other artist I know of, reminds me of the work of Steve Roach, but Max journeys a bit more deeply into the tension of discord and sweet resolve. I’ve been…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #68 – Max Corbacho

This episode of the Ambient Soundbath Podcast features two artists that are new to the genre, prepared piano and drone synthesist Durango Budd and my long-time collaborator and oldest friend, Michael Goldapper (fans of Ghostly International may remember the KOSIK project that we had together). This is a carefully curated Soundbath consisting of tracks from…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #67 – Strings and Drones

Ambient Soundbath Podcast #66 is an original work that I (Matt Borghi) created expressly for the podcast. This composition, that I’ve titled: Morning dew gathered on weeping cherry limbs, came about as many of my tracks do. I was meditating and contemplating sound. I began to ‘play’ with some synthesizer sounds that went with my state…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #66

This Soundbath, #65, and the first of 2018 is brought to you by the kind generosity and support of Soundbath listener, Roland Jehring, who’s tuning in from a small town outside of Berlin, Germany. It’s crazy to think that this podcast, which I create in the quiet midwestern environs of East Lansing, MI is being…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #65 – Huronic Minor Trilogy

I discovered the music of Juta Takahashi on the SomaFM DroneZone internet radio station; I hear a lot of great music there and I try to bring some of it to the Soundbath from time to time. Juta Takahashi is one such case. Juta Takahashi was born in Miyagi, Japan in 1959, and produces music, primarily,…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #64 – Juta Takahashi

This episode of the Ambient Soundbath Podcast features something that I haven’t done before here, a remix/remaster of sorts in the form of reworking the music for Geoffrey Chandler’s 1980 synthesizer space recording, Starscapes. Who is Geoffrey Chandler, I don’t know. Did he do other recordings? I don’t know that either, except I can’t find…Read more Ambient Soundbath Podcast #63 – Geoffrey Chandler – Starscapes
