say YES to yourself!

An Email as a Love Letter

Listen Later

This week on the Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations Podcast Jane and Wendy use an email as their springboard for their conversation.  The email contains a heartfelt message about maintaining a long-distance friendship that is deeply rooted, but requires attention and care all the same.

They discuss the need for, and elements of maintenance for friendships, how we define and experience emotional intimacy, and the rules of engagement for hard conversations in order to have deeper, more meaningful relationships.

Wendy’s Takeaways

  • The opportunities we allow our friendships to grow and expand

Jane’s Takeaways

  • The use of the word emotional intimacy in relation to a friendship.
  • That it was a gift that her friend shared she was hesitant to reach out because she was worried about being too demanding or needy, because it meant that it was okay to feel that way herself sometimes. The shared experience is comforting.
  • Asking yourself before a hard conversation or when considering a situation ‘What assumptions am I making, and what can I do about that?’

We invite you to share your love letters to be considered as a springboard for a future pocast conversation with Jane and Wendy.  Please email your love letter to [email protected]

What is a love letter?
It is a letter, a text, a poem, a direct message, a drawing, a voice message, a watercolor, a recipe, a cup of tea, a smile, a home-baked meal delivered.  It's anything that connects us and makes us feel all those messy emotions, that without life would be pretty beige.
