When most people meet Aiko, they think she’s just a really picky eater. But it’s much more complicated than that. Aiko has avoidant restrictive food intake disorder, or ARFID. She gets extremely anxious and panicked if she has to eat foods outside of a very small list of “safe” items. In this episode, we talk to Aiko as well as an eating disorder expert about what it’s like to live in fear of food.
