  • Art Doesn't Just Happen We Cant Stop Defending Expression Actor Michael Chiklis
"When we stop defending expression, we start accepting silence," says Tim Daly, President of The Creative Coalition. "That silence begins when we fail to protect both the First Amendment and the institutions that make creativity possible, including vital federal support for the National Endowment for the Arts. Defending the NEA means defending the artists, storytellers, and cultural voices that help define who we are as a nation."Adds Robin Bronk, CEO of The Creative Coalition, "For nearly four decades, The Creative Coalition has operated at the intersection of art and free speech because the two are inseparable. The First Amendment exists to express inconvenient and necessary truths. When we begin to question the value of that freedom, we are weakening the foundation of our democracy. This is the moment to stand behind expression, not step away from it."The Creative Coalition is the premier nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization of the arts and entertainment community. Founded in 1989 by leaders across the creative sector, The Creative Coalition is dedicated to educating artists on issues of public importance. Led by actor and President Tim Daly, the organization is known for award-winning initiatives - including its signature #RightToBearArts campaign - that leverage storytelling to drive social impact and inspire civic engagement. Most recently, The Creative Coalition established the Entertainment Industry Commission on Family Caregiving. To learn more, visit TheCreativeCoalition.org

Do you believe in resurrections?  They happen every day.  But are you willing to listen, to participate, to explore and find newer ways to understand your personal journey? My Boy Boy Ernie spoke with me every chance we had together.  But this isn’t about resurrecting a spiritual brother of nearly 34 years.  This resurrection is that of a writing instrument. • The Brand New Novel Passages A Voyage From War To Peace From Author PK Edgewater
Bound by chance and the intimacy of therapy, an old warrior and a fledgling psychiatrist test each other’s true north. Miko, the precocious son of a Greek fisherman, has weathered an indecisive path to adulthood in medicine and psychiatry. . . or has he? Dormant in his soul is a muse for writing and a smoldering guilt of abandoning his father. His training trajectory finds him in Tulsa, USA, of all places, where a 2 a.m. hospital admission, the aging, drunk, and potentially violent Vietnam veteran AJ becomes the young physician's patient. A metaphysical quirk awaits them. Unwitting confidants in the quest to understand what each is missing, the two trade insights best borne from meeting the other where he is. AJ is a prisoner of the exhilarating echoes of a confusing war; Miko suppresses his own psychological turmoil while exposing that of others. A chance meeting of their wives leads to a bond kept hidden under norms of confidentiality. Each woman finds something of themselves in the other and the moxie to withstand battles in their own marriages, on their own terms. Why AJ was brought to the hospital by the police that night pits a sense of duty against self-destruction. Why was there but a single round in his Luger that night? In Passages, the author takes aim at our enigmatic humanity. Each of us is the hero in his or her own life, a contrast of magnificence and flaws, navigating the complexity of principles and barriers as best one can.
