ArTEEtude: Art, culture and the creative mind. Never so close again. - with Detlef Schlich episodes

  • #Arteetude 246 - Detlef Schlich is Unlocking the Creative Mind: We Exploring the Neuroscience Behind Human Creativity"

I’m excited to share the latest episode of the ArTEEtude podcast, where we explore the fascinating neuroscience of creativity. Have you ever wondered why some people seem to effortlessly generate innovative ideas while others struggle? In this episode, we delve into the brain’s intricate networks— the Default Mode Network (DMN), Executive Control Network (ECN), and Salience Network—that are key to creative thinking.

    Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn:

    • How the DMN helps you generate ideas during moments of rest and daydreaming.
    • The role of the ECN in organizing those ideas and turning them into actionable plans.
    • How the Salience Network prioritizes which ideas are worth pursuing.

Understanding these networks not only sheds light on the creative process but also offers practical insights on how to enhance your own creativity, whether you're in the arts, business, or any field that values innovation.

  • #Arteetude Episode 243: WAW (aka Schlich & Schlömer) on Tour: From Skibbereen to Stage: Reflections, Performances, and New Beginnings.
Detlef Schlich and Dirk Schlömer, of the newly formed band Wild Atlantic Way (WAW), have just concluded their West Cork Rocks 2024 Tour. Reflecting on their journey during the bus ride back, they share the highlights of their intense and creative experience. Their tour included a successful gig at the Oasis Art Café in Ballydehob for the Uganda Recording Studio Fundraiser, where they raised 340 euros and performed with additional musicians Aileen Becker and Thomas Wiegandt. The performances were dynamic and well-received despite some logistical challenges, like forgotten lyrics. The duo also recorded new tracks at Mick's White House café and explored the scenic Sheep's Head peninsula. Their journey was enriched by interactions with locals and fellow musicians, culminating in impromptu performances that captured the true spirit of Ireland. Detlef and Dirk plan to continue their musical journey with more projects on the horizon.
