Professor Chris Imray is a consultant vascular, renal transplant and trauma surgery at the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry, UK. He is also an Honorary Professor at Warwick Medical School, Coventry and Exeter Universities and immediate Past President of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
Professor Imray has combined his love of mountaineering with clinical vascular surgery - he is involved in a number of polar medicine societies and is a world expert on the management of frostbite and non-freezing cold injuries. He has conducted research into hypoxia and ischemia at altitude and has published extensively.
His personal accomplishments include a wide range of expeditions across the globe, from the sea cliffs of the Outer Hebrides in Scotland to the volcanoes of Chile and, most notably, to the summit of Everest.

We are very excited to have three guests on the podcast to discuss the new Society for Vascular Surgery Learning Management System.
Dr. Kellie Brown is a Professor of Surgery and Radiology in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at The Medical College of Wisconsin and the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Zablocki VA Medical Center. She is the Program Director for the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is the Chair of the Education Committee for the Society for Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Rabih Chaer is a Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as the Program Director for the Vascular Integrated Residency and the Chief of Vascular Surgery at UPMC Presbyterian. He is the Chair of the Education Council for the Society of Vascular Surgery.
Lisa Cohen is the Director of Education and Professional Development for the Society of Vascular Surgery. She is currently the Co-Chair of the Medical Specialty Society Section of the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions.

Dr. Todd Rasmussen is a Colonel in the United States Air Force and is a Professor of Surgery and Associate Dean of Research at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and an attending vascular surgeon at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Dr. Rasmussen has been deployed numerous times to Iraq and Afghanistan and cared for many traumatic vascular injuries at Walter Reed Medical Center. Through his experience and research, he has become one of the foremost leaders in the management of vascular trauma and recently published the third edition of Rich’s Vascular Trauma.
Dr. Marlin “Wayne” Causey is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army and the Chief of Vascular Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center.
Dr. Kevin Kniery is a vascular surgeon at Brooke Army Medical Center.

Mr. Paul Blair graduated Queens University Medical School in 1982, became consultant vascular surgeon and director of trauma at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1995, and subsequently rose to the clinical director for vascular and plastic surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital and president of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland in 2014/2015. He has an international reputation and is widely published in carotid body tumor surgery and vascular trauma, in addition to having a very busy clinical practice. He has recently retired from the National Health Service but continues to work clinically and is the public health lead for the Northern Ireland AAA screening program.

Become a JVS Intern!
We are excited to announce a fantastic educational opportunity for vascular trainees! The Journal of Vascular Surgery is initiating an internship program geared at both senior integrated vascular residents and vascular fellows. The program is designed for those who have an interest in learning the JVS Journals review and editorial process. The goals of the program are to teach the next generation of vascular surgeons how to be good reviewers of clinical and basic scientific research papers and to diversify the reviewer pool to better reflect practitioners in the field, and the patients we care for. Interns will be mentored by senior editorial staff throughout the process and will be expected to review a select number of papers and produce at least one co-authored commentary.
Application: Interested residents, fellows should email the following items to [email protected], attention Dr. Ulka Sachdev, by February 1, 2021.

Dr. Sachdev-Ost graduated from medical school at Icahn School of Medicine in New York City, where she stayed to complete both her general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship. During her residency she also completed 2 research years in basic science at Mount Sinai and Rockefeller University studying platelet-leukocyte interactions in vascular disease. She then went on to UPMC in 2006 as a surgeon-scientist, where she also secured an independent R01 grant in 2018. Dr. Sachdev heads a research lab that focuses on the role of Toll-like receptors in angiogenesis and muscle regeneration. She is currently the site chief of vascular surgery at Magee Women’s Hospital, the associate program director of the vascular surgery residency and fellowship at UPMC and was recently appointed as an associate editor for clinical research focused on diversity, equity and inclusion at JVS.
