Episode 46:
The "Fair Chase" Trail Camera debate continues. With all of the technology we have in the hunting industry, why is the line in the sand being drawn with trail cameras?

We, as hunters, face much bigger challenges and problems in our industry than the use of trail cameras being considered "not fair chase."

If the technology being used aids in a good ethical clean hunt and recovery of the animal, then I fail to see the problem.

We are talking about timber management, trail maintenance, hinge cutting, creating bedding areas, setting mock scrapes, trail camera maintenance, stand maintenance, and very importantly - bow maintenance.

Episode 43:
Tim and Mike visited the Shawnee Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet. There was a could have/should have moment on bidding for the South Africa Safari Hunt as it went very cheap.

The fellas get into a discussion about draw weight on a compound bow. Somewhere along the way, we have gotten into the "more is better" philosophy. There is a big difference between what you can shoot vs. what you can shoot effectively and efficiently. 

Ultimately, it comes down to the proper setup and tuning and most importantly, the time practicing on the range.

Episode 42: THE BUCK FILES

Tim shares his story of the 154 1/8 inch net whitetail buck he killed in his early 20's. The buck was shot with a bow (a PSE at the time) on a 43 acre farm in Southern Illinois. The farm is surrounded by more than 23,000 acres of Shawnee Forest property.

The buck is a 14 point (6x8) with a kicker on the left side and a split brow tine on the right side.

This is our 1st Buck file episode and we found it fitting for the first couple episodes to be bucks harvested by the hosts. We have numerous episodes upcoming with guests sharing their buck file stories.

Tim and Mike take a look at the upcoming release of the new Spypoint Flex Trail Camera. The Spypoint Flex will feature both 1080p video and 33 megapixel images. Flex offers better network coverage and extended detection range.

Tim and Mike thought it would be fun to go through each animal of the North American Big Game Super Slam (29 in total) and discuss whether or not they would hunt those animals. Needless to say, neither will be adding to the only 173 hunters who have ever accomplished the feat.

What Tim thought was only one 140's class Buck on his property turns out to be what is apparently twin 140's.  Literally twins! They look identical.

The National Deer Association released their statistics for the 2021 hunting season. Hunters harvested more bucks in 2021 than over the last 21 years. 41% of those were mature Whitetail Bucks that were 3.5 years of age or older.
