Mike is back from his hunting trip up north. He had a successful hunt killing a very solid Buck. We are guessing it will score in the 150" - 160" range. This deer was never captured on the properties trail cameras.
Mike's 12 year old son tags his second deer of the season.
Tim had some fun hunts, but still nothing to show for it other than the stories that unfolded.
Tim closes out on his thoughts about Mediacom internet and Mike closes out on his disgust with crossbows.

Mike's son Jimmy kills his first whitetail deer. That's a successful hunting season regardless of what happens from here. Congrats young man!
Tim's Redneck Blind finally showed up. Now the decision has to be made to put it out now or just wait for the 2022 season.
We're talking scrapes. Hunting near active scrapes. Some of the myths surrounding scrapes. And suggestions on how to make a mock scrape.
As always, get your kids outdoors! Take em hunting and fishing every chance you get.

We have a lengthy discussion on quality deer management and the factors that go with it. Small parcels vs large parcels, kids hunts, unique character, bad genetics, and most importantly if it makes you the hunter happy.
Our experiences with Spypoint cameras thus far.
Tim was interviewed for the Central Illinois Outdoors radio show. Check that out on the upcoming episode airing October 30th.
A listener wants to know if it is ok to shoot a doe who is with her fawns. The short answer is "yes." But, we get a little more in detail with this topic.

We opened the show talking about and watching the Drury Buck hunt as we recorded. Mark Drury with Drury Outdoors dropped this 216 5/8 Whitetail in Iowa just days before we recorded. Drury nicknamed the buck Disappearing Act. It's a cool story and you can find the video on YouTube.
Tim & Mike's hunting seasons are off to a slow start. Mike took a shot at and missed a Doe. Tim watched a young 6 point semi chasing around some does out in the field.
Tim received his new Garmin Xero A1i Pro bow sight. A giant thank you to Garmin for sending that!
Lastly, we give our thoughts on the weekend warrior shotgun hunters. Us bowhunters put in a lot of early season work. Sometimes it pays off. Sometimes it doesn't. Then the shotgun hunters swoop right in on a full rut weekend.

We answer a couple of questions out of the email inbox. One of which was about scent control with our hunting clothing and how we go about maintaining that.
Mike and his youngest son had an opportunity to hunt a potential 150 inch 10-pointer. The shot didn't present itself, but a lot of fun nonetheless.

There will be no changes on your end. We will show up in your feed under the new name!

It is the first day of fall as we record this episode. That means hunting season is inching closer.
Tim, a Hoyt shooter, really would like to get his hands on the new Hoyt Ventum.
We read the Field and Stream article about the alleged crossbow stalk, possible record deer, harvested in Kentucky. Derek Settle of Henderson County, Kentucky reported to Field and Stream that he had stalked a whitetail buck to 12 yards before making the kill with his crossbow. Not any whitetail buck, but a 57 point 280 inch buck. Derek checked the deer in with the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife telecheck system.
In fact, Derek killed the deer on a high fenced hunt at Patoka River Whitetails Preserve in Indiana. He even posed with a picture of the same deer at their preserve.
Derek, you are a douche! And the fact that you fabricated this whole story and dedicated it to your deceased father makes you even a bigger douche!
