In this week's State of the Nation, we discuss the emerging crypto economy. Rob Paone is the founder of Proof of Talent, a recruiting and search firm that places candidates in professional roles in the crypto space. Few people are more equipped to discuss the job market in the cryptocurrency industry.

Rob is also known by his Youtube persona, Crypto Bobby. He has transitioned into the space's premier career recruiter and is taking advantage of crypto's huge growth potential. In the legacy world, most of the profitable ideas and services have already been capitalized. Crypto exists on the other end of the spectrum, where the market gaps are vast and ripe for opportunity.

Rob's fundamental approach for candidates seeking employment is one of bootstrapping. The market is geared towards those with a technical background, but the key is finding what sets you apart and proving it. Hasu is a renowned pseudonymous researcher in the cryptoeconomic space, and we have been long impressed by his clear, sober ideas. In his second appearance on the pod, we dive deeply into EIP-1559, covering its technicals but also the social & cultural implications of the proposal.

When it comes to the field of cryptoeconomics, Hasu is most compelled by research on establishing and maintening economic security. EIP-1559 embodies these concepts through its transaction fee dynamics, regulation of gas prices, and novel mechanisms for users to buy transactions on the network.

Properly incentivizing validators to come to consensus is necessary for a cryptoeconomically secure platform. EIP-1559 aims to accomplish this by regulating the consumption of resources on the network, fixing the price of gas on a block while allowing its quantity to float.

The changes under EIP-1559 allow Ethereum to incentivize its deflationary mechanism, mitigate Miner Extracted Value (MEV), and improve the user experience for individuals transacting on the Ethereum network. Is Wall Street going Bankless? What do they know about crypto? We bring on David Grider of Fundstrat to answer these important questions for us. If an asset is legitimate, it will inevitably end up on Wall Street, the heart-center of global finance. David embodies the growing bridge from traditional finance to crypto, and he sees the space as increasingly on the radar of high-level investors. Crypto should be understood as making the internet an emerging market.

For David, the tipping point came as crypto boasted a trillion-dollar market cap. The finance space is not uniform, and some spheres have been more quick to adapt and adopt than others. As crypto becomes more standardized and accepted, it will be easier to continue this trend in accordance with the Lindy effect – the idea that life expectancy decreases over time with things like technology and concepts.

A general willingness to adopt must also be paired with necessary technologies and infrastructure to support custody and investment vehicles, and these things take time. Wall Street is starting to recognize changes in the current monetary regime, and trailblazers like Fundstrat are making this change more real and accessible.
