  • 189. How to be the friend we want to have
Friendship is whatever we think it is. Think about it, it is literally just a thought in our own mind. In order to always have the friend that we wish we could have and want in our life we have to be that for ourselves first. Being our own best friend looks like listening to ourselves, standing up for ourselves, being here for ourselves, being safe to be with, and having fun with ourselves. It means showing up in a true authentic way where we always have our own back, where we let go of what other people think and the expectation we have for how they should show up for us and showing up instead for ourselves.

  • 187. The words we speak matter
The words we speak matter especially when we want to consider the kind of relationships we want to have and the person that we want to be. Not only do the words that we speak matter, but the intention behind them matters, the energy behind them matters, and the actions that we take matter. If we want to be the kind of person who people know they can come to and open up to and trust, then we would consider the way that we speak, the way that we show up and the energy that we put out into the world.

  • 185. Where real confidence comes from
Real confidence is a feeling of self assurance that arises from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities. It is a state of feeling certain about the truth of something. Confidence is a feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or a firm trust. All of these definitions of confidence are rooted in what we believe about ourselves first, the truth of who we are, a firm trust in ourselves and a feeling of assurance and appreciation of our own abilities or qualities. Confidence will not come from outside validation or compliments. Confidence comes first within ourselves from ourselves about ourselves, focus on the qualities you already have and are good at and then build the confidence on the outside.

  • 184. Why nothing changes when everything stays the same
We may say that we want something to change in our life, maybe we want to change our health, maybe we want to overcome struggles, overcome fear, overcome thoughts that hold us back from achieving big goals. Have you ever noticed that we never change and our life doesn’t change or become what we want it to become just by doing nothing? It requires us to get out of what is called homeostasis so that we can create change in our life that is lasting. If you have a big goal or dream and find yourself self sabotaging, homeostasis is the reason why. Our brain doesn’t like the unknown and makes us think it’s dangerous to do things differently, but if we want to reach bigger goals we need to become a better new version of ourself first.
