The Hat Man | Paranormal Podcast

We finally tackled one of the most requested topics in the show's history — the Hat Man — that tall, shadow-dark, wide-brimmed hat and trench coat wearing entity that people all over the world keep waking up to find standing silently in the corner of their room, lurking in doorways, or worse, leaning over their beds staring directly at them.

We broke down what the Hat Man might actually be — from shadow figure to interdimensional observer to alien using your memory like an Etch-a-Sketch — and got into the Hat Man Project, started by a guy who saw this thing at 14 and spent years realizing he absolutely was not alone, before diving into six encounters including a woman who saw it standing at the foot of her young daughter's bed decades after her own childhood sighting, and a Reddit user who completely repressed the memory until a single image on Facebook unlocked the whole terrifying thing.

The consistency across every single encounter — the hat, the trench coat, the silent menacing presence, the way it seems to follow families across generations — is the kind of detail that makes this one really hard to shake, especially the next time you wake up at 3am and something in the corner of your room looks just a little too dark.

The Wampus Cat Cryptid | Paranormal Podcast

In this episode we dug into one of the lesser-known but genuinely fascinating cryptids in American folklore — the Wampus Cat — a massive, terrifying creature from the Appalachian Mountains that's been described as anywhere from the size of a gorilla to a miniature pony, walks on either two legs or six, and has a shriek that reportedly tears through the night and sends people running for their lives.

We broke down two Cherokee legends behind the creature, one about a wife who put on a magical bobcat mask to defeat a demon and became the Wampus Cat as a protector of her people, and another about a woman who snuck into the woods and was cursed into the creature as punishment — and then got into two firsthand encounters, including a sheriff's deputy who saw something massive and jet black cross the road in front of his patrol car and a woman from North Carolina who grew up treating the Wampus Cat roughly the same way most people treat seeing a cardinal.

It's a creature tied to real Native American mythology, possibly inspired by a Harry Potter house you've definitely heard of, and the question of whether what people are actually seeing out there in those mountains is something supernatural or just a very large, very misunderstood cat is one we had a lot of fun arguing about.
