In this episode we’re fortunate to have special guest, fellow wine enthusiast Sean (IG @shirazzmatazz), to help us navigate Georgian wines. Georgia is considered the birthplace of wine and still uses traditional winemaking methods utilising a Qvevri. In this episode we discuss the history, geography, varieties, and winemaking techniques of Georgia. We also get to sample 3 x Georgian wines which were the 2018 Gurashvili Kisi Qvevri (Unfiltered Organic White Wine), Georgia ($47 from www.tamada.com.au), 2020 Tbilvino Qvevris Rkatstiteli (Dry White Wine), Georgia ($35 from www.tamada.com.au), and 2020 Oda Family Winery Dzelshavi, Georgia.
Thanks again to Sean for sharing this experience with us and teaching us about Georgian wines. Definitely recommend following him on Instagram (@shirazzmatazz). He has an amazing curiosity on wine, diverse choice of wines, and highlighted the ability for wine to give a glimpse into other countries/regions. We hope to have Sean on The Wined Up Podcast more often as a special guest!
