BIG EXTRA this week with Stephen Pulvirent.
He’s a writer, a photographer, and was previously the head of editorial operations for HODINKEE; He recently founded the creative agency Rime & Reason.
Stephen joins Rob and I to recap Watches and Wonders, the recent trade show out of Geneva where nearly every watch company showed off what they’ve been working on…
We discuss how hard it has been to buy a watch and how that’s affecting other brands in the industry, the recent announcements, what we’ve been into lately, and more.
If you’re into watches, hate to love em, or love to hate him, throw in the AirPods and take a walk with us.

This week on Blamo! Extra, we talk to Jason Jules.
Jason has been a force behind the scenes in the worlds of music and fashion for a minute, working with Jamiroquai, A Bathing Ape, Paul Smith, and Drake’s (to name a few), plus his own projects under the name Garmsville. Lately, his Black Ivy: A Revolt in Style has been blowing up in the world of menswear, including earning a co-sign from Tyler, the Creator.
In our conversation, we talk about why musicians are launching brands, how we communicate through what we wear, and what Black Ivy is really about. It’s so epic, we’re crossing the whole ep over into the main Blamo feed to give a bigger taste of Extra to a wider audience.
Our Patreon support is so important for us to keep going and we have big plans - so if you dig it, please share it with a friend!

This week on Extra, Jeremy and Rob decided to invite Derek Guy back for the return of the AMA. You undoubtedly know him from his writing for his blog, Die Workwear and Put This On or his epic Twitter account. He’s so thoughtful and knowledgable, we wanted to get his takes on your questions, too.
We covered a lot of ground, including y2k fashion, stolen valor, how much of a wardrobe item is too many, how Derek keeps interested in classic menswear, and his own writing inspo. He even lets us in on why he thinks women make the best menswear writers.
Deep dives, tangents, and hot takes, oh my. AMA is back, baby!

This week, Rob chats with DJ Justine D.
Justine is a born and raised New Yorker who’s been DJing in the city since the late 90's and became a go-to party promoter at the heart of New York City’s famous nightlife and music scene in the 2000s. She co-hosted weekly parties like Aktion at Lit Lounge, Tiswas at Don Hill’s, and the moveable feast known as Motherfucker. If you know the book and documentary Meet Me in the Bathroom, you'll know how much she was a big part of that time and place.
Rob and Justine talk about New York’s music and club scene of the era, how its inclusivity and grittiness bucked the trends of the 90’s, and what nightlife used to be like in the days before social media. They also talk about her knack for combining vintage designer pieces with contemporary labels to make a style all her own, way before that was a thing. But mostly, they talk about how her passion for music and fashion helped create a community of people she considers family to this day.

My guest this week is Jared Blake and Ed Be, founders of Lichen New York.
Lichen is a Brooklyn/Queens based interior design shop & incubator that has absolutely blown up the past couple of years.
They don’t have traditional backgrounds; they don’t have a “core piece” in fact, they’ve probably done more awareness and education for brands like Herman Miller and Knoll than those brands could do on their own. But Jared and Ed are doing everything right. They’re creating a world that’s accessible, inspirational, inviting, and democratizing the landscape.
Jared, Ed, and I discuss the origins of Lichen, how they’re evolving the brand, and how their team is paving the way for your next favorite designer.

My guest this week is Sarah Mirth, co-founder and CEO of ARTIFOX.
The past few years, many of us have been working from home, but on what? Couches, chairs, coffee shops.
But everyone wants a nice desk –– a nice space to put their stuff, to work, to collaborate, and even waste time.
Along comes, ARTIFOX. An incredibly beautiful and thoughtful design and furniture company that has more or less refined and re-invented the simple desk.
And funny enough. I’ve known Sarah, the founder, since elementary school!
ARTIFOX is a bit Dieter Rams, a bit punk rock, but in solid hardwood. I now live for the desk flex.
Sarah and I discuss the origins of ARTIFOX, objects of good design, what’s on her shelves, and the power of a good uniform.

Hey folks, Rob is flying solo this week while I'm about to unplug for the first time in two years! WE ARE ALL IN BETTER HANDS! 🤣 See you soon! - jeremy
This week, Rob chats with writer W. David Marx. David's an author and cultural critic, and is one of those guys who’s able to connect the dots of culture so vividly you never see things the same way again - a prime example is his book, Ametora: How Japan Saved American Style.
Rob and David talk Nigo after his triumphant debut as Artistic Director for @kenzo, including his journey to becoming one of the most influential figures in fashion, strategies for style, how culture used to travel in pre-internet days, and David’s own story of how @bape_us turned him on to fashion and the time he once got into trouble with Stash.

My guest this week is Peter Middleton, founder, and designer of Wythe.
A brand that's helped spark the reemergence of western wear and why all your friends have that snap-button shirt!
Peter is the real deal. As you'll hear in this chat, Peter talks about how Wythe was always there because the brand is essentially himself.
Peter and I discuss his life growing up in Texas, what he learned working at Ralph Lauren, the importance of a side hustle, and finding himself through his brand.

My guest this week is Davide Baroncini, founder of GHIAIA.
A brand that's a beautiful hybrid of luxury and casual. It's a sort of California cool but made with luxurious fabrics and construction. You can wear it but still look like the LA guy pushing a grocery cart.
Davide and I talk about the origins of the brand, what he learned while working at Brunello Cucinelli, how retail is the essence of service, and more.
