Listener Discretion Advisory: I am joined by Zascha Samuels (I pronounce her name wrong multiple times throughout this episode) but nonetheless, I am so excited for you to hear our conversation and her story. In this episode she shares her journey through her parent’s divorce, how she went from a high achieving student to skipping classes just so she could sleep in her car because of the debilitating fatigue she experienced. After years of being gaslit by multiple providers (and even herself at times) she was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease.
This will also serve as listener’s distraction advisory as Zascha’s story includes suicide ideation and attempts, being institutionalized. She also affectionately shares how she and her now husband met and he truly CARED for her during her time of being bedridden, carrying her to and from appointments and financially tending to their household needs. She shares her experience through a holistic lens - emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Here is the song I mentioned in this episode.
