  • Steven Gerrard special: How Liverpool legend is replicating Jurgen Klopp at Rangers and making Anfield return seem inevitable
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has long been expected to be among the contenders when Jurgen Klopp departs Anfield - but this season has really proven why. Matt Addison explores the Rangers manager's season so far, as well as the wider job that he has done in Scotland, by speaking to Jonny McFarlane, of the Daily Recordm and David Hughes, tactics writer and Analysing Anfield co-host. The similarities between Liverpool and Rangers are clear in almost every regard, from the pressure of the job and having to win every single game to the way that both teams utilise their full-backs, and everything in between. Rangers are flying high at the top of the table and are already into the last-32 of the Europa League where they will face Royal Antwerp, with Gerrard's style and management, clearly influenced by Klopp, really beginning to come into its own. And with Gerrard and Klopp both under contract until the summer of 2024, the stars are certainly aligning for the Liverpool legend to at least make the shortlist of Klopp successor contenders. Enjoy.

  • Blood Red: Thiago is the difference maker that Liverpool need right now and how seriously should we take Manchester United?
Happy New Year and welcome to the first Blood Red podcast of 2021 as Ian Doyle and Theo Squires join Joe Rimmer for all the big Liverpool talking points – the draw with Newcastle United, Thiago Alcantara, the challenge from Manchester United, the transfer window, and the trip to Southampton. The panel start by focusing on the stalemate at St James’ Park and the performance from the bench of the fit-again Thiago before wondering if Man United, who could go level on points with Liverpool at the top on Friday night, are the real deal. The transfer window opens on Saturday so should and will Jurgen Klopp sign the centre-back many fans are calling for? While, according to Theo, is it worth bringing in Diego Costa now that the former Chelsea forward has been freed by Atletico Madrid? A preview of Monday’s match at Southampton follows before the podcast ends with the usual score and team predictions – plus who Joe, Ian and Theo believe will win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

  • The Agenda: Jurgen Klopp, Michael Edwards and their biggest Liverpool transfer decision
The big January transfer decision facing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards is discussed in the latest episode of The Agenda.
With Liverpool currently without a single fully-fit senior centre-back, supporters are hoping the current Premier League leaders will bolster their backline when the window opens tomorrow.
Klopp and Edwards do not give into outside pressure to make signings and their record in the transfer market is second to none.
However, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out long-term, and Joel Matip susceptible to injury, do the Anfield supremos have to act now with a title to defend and Champions League glory to go for?
Sean Bradbury joins Matt Addison to discuss that along with what defenders Klopp and Edwards could potentially target, and how the possible departure of Liverpool cult hero Divock Origi could also be a factor.
