  • The Agenda: Takumi Minamino set to reward Liverpool transfer patience?
Takumi Minamino signed for Liverpool just over a year ago, and he marked the anniversary with his first Premier League goal in the 7-0 win at Crystal Palace last weekend. So, after 12 months on Merseyside, how will the Japanese look back on his time at Liverpool so far, and what do the next few months of the season hold for him?
Matt Addison is joined by Joe Rimmer to discuss exactly that - plus what the year 2021 will look like for the versatile attacker who arrived for a fee of £7.25m from Red Bull Salzburg last January.

  • Xabi Alonso special: How former Liverpool maestro is copying Guardiola, Benitez and more en route to top-level management
Former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star Xabi Alonso is doing a superb job in charge of third-tier Spanish side Real Sociedad B. The 39-year-old worked under Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Rafa Benitez and more during his playing career, and is now proving to be a top coach in his own right, with bits of each of them evident, at the club where he started his career. Matt Addison speaks to Spanish football experts Alan Feehely and Colin Millar to get the lowdown on Alonso's season-and-a-bit as a coach - finding out exactly how his team are playing, and why he has been so successful to date. What's the long-term plan for Alonso in management? And could he one day end up in the dugout at Anfield? At the very least, his style, tactics and development of players makes the topic of Alonso as Reds boss something that will inevitably come up on the agenda at some point in the future.

  • Blood Red: Mohamed Salah crowned the inaugural Fans’ Footballer of the Year
Kristian Walsh is joined by Paul Gorst and Matt Addison to announce the winner of the inaugural Fans’ Footballer of the Year... Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah. Football journalists from across Reach PLC – the company behind Blood Red and the Liverpool ECHO – recently picked their top Premier League players of 2020. And after counting the votes, the shortlist was whittled down to seven players – four of which play for the champions, Liverpool. Salah was joined on the shortlist by team-mates Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk, plus Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. Supporters have then spent the past 10 days voting for the winner, which today can be revealed as Salah. And which, in this special Blood Red podcast, gives Kristian, Gorsty and Matt the chance to look back on a quite incredible year for Anfield’s Egyptian King. Enjoy.

  • The Agenda: Liverpool is the best place for Mohamed Salah amid Real Madrid/Barcelona transfer question
Liverpool capped off an excellent few days with an emphatic 7-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, with Mohamed Salah coming off the bench to score twice and provide an assist for Roberto Firmino's second. Earlier in the day, though, there were quotes that emerged from Spanish outlet AS, who spoke exclusively with Salah earlier this week. In that interview, the Reds superstar spoke about wanting to break records with Liverpool, but also didn’t rule out a possible move to Real Madrid and Barcelona in the future. "We never know what is going to happen in the future,” he said. “I think Madrid and Barcelona are top clubs.” Dan Kay joins host Matt Addison to talk through those comments - and explain why moving away from Anfield would make no sense for Liverpool's Egyptian King.

  • Poetry in Motion: The Curtis Jones secret is out and the terrifying title talk that must inspire Liverpool to do it all over again
What a way to start your Friday as Neil Fitzmaurice is joined by Joe Rimmer and Matt Addison for the latest edition of his superb Poetry in Motion podcast. After a heartfelt tribute to Gerard Houllier, the much-loved Reds manager who passed away aged 73 this week, the trio get stuck into the draw with Fulham and the win over Tottenham Hotspur that took Jurgen Klopp’s champions back to the top of the table. There is a discussion about the progression of Rhys Williams and, in particular, Curtis Jones, as well as praise for Roberto Firmino, who made Tim Sherwood look silly when he gloriously headed in the winner against Spurs. And the merits of signing another centre-back is also brought up, especially when it is framed around real fears Fitzy and Joe have if Liverpool do not defend their title this season. Enjoy.
