  • Episode 109: And Soon the Darkness (1970)

    Josh and Drusilla go on a bike ride through France with Robert Fuest’s 1970 banger, And Soon the Darkness. From wiki: “And Soon the Darkness is a 1970 British thriller film directed by Robert Fuest and starring Pamela Franklin, Michele Dotrice and Sandor Elès. The plot follows two British nurses on a cycling holiday in rural France; during their trip, one of them vanishes, and the other struggles to search for her in a rural community.” But also! Drusilla did the cover for the Criterion Collection’s new release of Bound (1996). Josh moved and the two discuss the evils of landlords. Josh and Drusilla both saw Julio Torres’ directorial debut, Problemista. Drusilla saw Rose Glass’s Love Lies Bleeding. Josh watched Sidney Lumet’s 1966 film The Group. Also discussed: Halloween, Watcher, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Legend of Hell House, Blood of Satan’s Claw, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, The Avengers, Dr. Who, Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, and more!

  • Episode 108: The Beyond (1981)

    This week, Drusilla and Josh discuss Lucio Fulci’s gloopy, grody classic, The Beyond (1981). From wiki: “The Beyond (Italian: …E tu vivrai nel terrore! L'aldilà, lit. "… And you will live in terror! The afterlife") is a 1981 Italian Southern Gothic[6][7] supernatural horror film directed by Lucio Fulci. It is based on an original story created by Dardano Sacchetti, starring Catriona MacColl and David Warbeck. Its plot follows a woman who inherits a hotel in rural Louisiana that was once the site of a horrific murder, and which may be a gateway to hell. It is the second film in Fulci's Gates of Hell trilogy after City of the Living Dead (1980), and was followed by The House by the Cemetery (1981).[8]” 

     But first, Josh watched Krull (1983) and Death Walks at Midnight (1972). Drusilla watched some mainstream hits, including Vanilla Sky (2001.) They discuss all things Cameron Crowe, The Sentinel, The Evil Dead, Bridget Fonda, and do some horror gossiping.

    This week Drusilla and Josh watch the world’s only Iranian feminist vampire wester, Ana Lily Amirpour’s A Girl Walks Hone Alone at Night (2014). From wiki: “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (Persian: دختری در شب تنها به خانه می‌رود Dokhtari dar šab tanhâ be xâne miravad) is a 2014 Persian-language American Western horror film[4] written and directed by Ana Lily Amirpour. Promoted as "The first Iranian vampire Western", it stars Sheila Vand, Arash Marandi, Mozhan Marnò, Marshall Manesh, and Dominic Rains. It was financed in part by a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.”

    This week on Blondehaus – I mean, er—Bloodhaus, Josh and Dru are joined by trash movie genius, Dylan Dawson! They discuss the best shot-on-video film of all time, BLONDE DEATH!!! This is a tape by James Dillinger aka queer novelist James Robert Baker. From wiki: James Robert Baker (October 18, 1947 – November 5, 1997) was an American author of sharply satirical, predominantly gay-themed transgressional fiction. A native Californian, his work is set almost entirely in Southern California. After graduating from UCLA, he began his career as a screenwriter, but became disillusioned and started writing novels instead. Though he garnered fame for his books Fuel-Injected Dreams and Boy Wonder, after the controversy surrounding publication of his novel, Tim and Pete, he faced increasing difficulty having his work published. According to his life partner, this was a contributing factor in his suicide.”

  • Episode 105: Peeping Tom (1960)

    *Whispers* “That’s cum.” 

    This week, Drusilla wakes up with her makeup on. Josh shot his short in the Catskills, but now he’s back. The kids discuss the classic 1960 British film. Peeping Tom. From wiki: “Peeping Tom is a 1960 British psychological horror-thriller film[4] directed by Michael Powell, written by Leo Marks, and starring Carl Boehm, Anna Massey, and Moira Shearer. The film revolves around a serial killer who murders women while using a portable film camera to record their dying expressions of terror, putting his footage together into a snuff film used for his own self-pleasure.

    But also! Josh saw All of Us Strangers, Josh shouts out Arrow Video’s app as well as the new Conan the Barbarian boxset. They also discuss the Coffin Joe films aka the Brazilian films of ‎José Mojica Marins.. Drusilla saw Lisa Frankenstein and loved it. She also rewatched Altered States. It’s Ken Russell-mania, babies! Dru also watched the INSANE film, The Visitor (1979.)

    The ghouls cover Leonard Kastle’s classic, The Honeymoon Killers. From wiki: “The Honeymoon Killers is a 1970 American crime film written and directed by Leonard Kastle, and starring Shirley Stoler and Tony Lo Bianco. Its plot follows a sullen, overweight nurse who is seduced by a handsome con man, with whom she embarks on a murder spree of single women.     100 episodes of Bloodhaus! Can you believe? Drusilla and Josh can’t. They forgot. Today the movie of the week is David Lynch’s seminal arthouse favorite, Eraserhead (1977). From wiki: “Eraserhead is a 1977 American surrealist body horror film[3] written, directed, produced, and edited by David Lynch. Lynch also created its score and sound design, which included pieces by a variety of other musicians. Shot in black and white, it was Lynch's first feature-length effort following several short films. Starring Jack Nance, Charlotte Stewart, Jeanne Bates, Judith Anna Roberts, Laurel Near, and Jack Fisk, it tells the story of a man (Nance) who is left to care for his grossly deformed child in a desolate industrial landscape.
