As leaders we all have to fight the pull to be the smartest person in the room. Bringing our experience, insights and training to the table is critical however having the battle patience to ask good questions and silicate team participation is even more vital.

Like many of you, Chris and I have made the mistake of taking over meetings or talking at our teams instead of leading an engaging conversation. When we do this we often end up hurting our teams and ultimately preventing our companies from fully experiencing the true value of diversity and accumulative perspectives our teams are capable of.
