If you’ve been tuning in for the last couple of episodes, you would’ve noticed that we’ve been touching a lot on the topic of trauma. This book is a perfect accompaniment to the others as it explains how we construct a framework of the world and what happens when it is broken or in this case, shattered due to a traumatic event.
Although this book refers to people who have experienced traumatic events, it is applicable to anyone as it reflects what happens when an assumption of any kind is broken… therefore causing anxiety.
This book is probably the simplest to follow in this series of trauma books we have reviewed. It lays out a clear process from beginning to end, starting with how people create assumptions of the world, then how these assumptions are maintained, how these assumptions benefit the individual, what happens when these assumptions are shattered, and finally how to rebuild them.
This is a fantastic book which I would recommend to anyone. It’s an incredibly easy read, yet full of content that changes how you see the world. It’s one of those books that when you put it down, you see the content being acted out by people all around you.
