This episode revisits my definition of resilience - To return to an original state
As humans our original state of balance in your nervous system, which gives you the capacity for curiosity, joy, pleasure, empathy, compassion, trust in yourself and others.
What it is not: a way to keep going in the same manner and pretending that shit is not burning down around you.
It is not a hack to be more productive
It is not for promoting any kind of ideas that you need to just pick yourself and dust yourself off and keep going.
That’s an idea that I heard so much of growing up but it’s missing the whole piece of addressing the thing that inspires the need for resilience in the first place.
It is not a way to measure yourself against others and compare levels of resilience (because you have no idea what they have going on outside of the story you’re making up that benefits your worldview)
