Your brain and nervous system love a good routine and count on it for stability … so, you know, you have to actually participate in the routine, but remember, it needs to be flexible enough to allow for life.
… because the ultimate goal of a routine is to make life a little easier, decrease stress and leave more time and energy for enjoying the other pieces of living.
When we actually do participate in our routines to care for ourselves we are assisting our body in working the magic it already does by lowering stress and increasing parasympathetic activity which is that rest/digest/learn and repair system.
When we’re in a high sympathetic/stress state our body can’t repair… the repair/recovery part can’t start until the stress has stopped.
So routine… and keeping that routine with consistency helps us not only have a better chance of avoiding some sickness, but will also help aid in recovery… just a reminder to myself and anyone else who needs that today..
